BIG week here at Mixtape Mondays. From the farm to the streets, we’re keeping it 100 and holding a meds (at the same damn time) while leaving room to reason with one of our favorite new artists and prepare for the wildest street party on Earth. Just another Monday around here…
LargeUp Exclusive: Jillionaire, Fog Up D Place: There’s been a handful of quality soca mixes making their rounds for Carnival 2013 (shout to So Shifty, Private Ryan…) but we had to go the extra road mile and enlist out Trini correspondant Jillionaire to lace us with this exclusive mix. Packed with groovy soca and remixes this is your essential Carnival mix for 2013. Stream and download below, tracklist and more info here
Pass through our recent Toppa Top 10 here and see why Trini Chris rates T&T Carnival as the best street party in the world — and dude knows a few things about parties…
Walshy Fire, Bass Station: LargeUp bredrin and contributor Walshy Fire continues his worldwide rampage with a new mix of bubbling global bass sounds and exclusives. Staying busier than ever and controlling massive crowds of hungry young ravers at Major Lazer blowouts the world over, Walshy still found time to deliver the mixtape heat. As part one of a mixtape series leading up to his forthcoming debut album of the same name, his Bass Station mix touches on just a few of the vibes that can percolate a Major Lazer party, leaning mostly towards moombahton and trap. I’d hold off on rinsing this at your desk, unless of course you work from home (then by all means get your morning twerk on). Stream and download below, tracklist here.
King Ivier x Chronixx, Ganja Over Guns: The irie folks at Roots & Harmony and Growilla Goods teamed up with Bay Area champion selector/producer/all around boss King Ivier to drop this new tape of strictly conscious and highly lifted roots music. Hosted by Chronixx — who just so happens to be our top artist to watch for 2013 — the mix speaks loudly to its title, reeling off ganja tune after ganja riddim, each more potent than the last. Might have to break out the coconut kutchie for this one… Stream and download below, tracked version here, tracklist here.
Chronixx Live on RadioLily.com with Max Glazer: Absolutely had to include this memorable and rare live recording captured by our good friend Max Glazer during his recent RadioLily show with Chronixx. Get to know the man, his music and path through this personal account stretching over an hour of interviews, stories and history, all capping off with effortless freestyles over a selection of Max’s Studio One crates. Pure heart and soul from one of the strongest young voices of today. Stream and download below right away:
