The Trench Town reading room has been functioning for years as an oasis for the children of The Tuff Gong’s old haunts. Funded by private means and run in part by volunteers, area children can here enjoy a modern library and safe haven from bullies and life’s pressures in general while burying their noses in anything from “Where the wild things are” to the autobiography of Marcus Garvey.
