Words by DJ Gravy
Our boy Max Glazer has a lot to celebrate–this Friday he’s throwing himself a huge birthday party and Leftside aka Mr Evil and Glazer’s Federation partners Alric and Boyd are coming up for the event. Alric and Boyd are combining their inter-island party The Mix (that they keep in Barbados, Jamaica, and now New York) with the Friday weekly “Re-Opened” in Chinatown at Santos Party House.
But getting older is not all he’s celebrating. Glazer has produced a big new chune by dancehall’s undisputed ruler of the last several years. But it’s not just that it’s an infectious, bubbly jump-up joint, Max actually managed to get Vybz Kartel to drop the auto-tune for “Whine” and we couldn’t be happier to hear the Gaza thug’s actual voice sounding proper without the guilty pleasure crutch that we’ve dubbed auto-chune! I predict more of these in these in the near future (sorry T-Pain!)
While Max premiered “Whine” on a recent Federation podcast, it isn’t officially out yet. The really major JA, NYC and UK Reggae DJs are playing it and the podcast version has been put on youtube complete with sound effects and Federation drops. People seriously want this tune that bad that they’ll listen to the podcast version til it officially comes out. Baby!
