Jetsetting Carnival-hoppers have mostly recovered from Caribana and Jamaican Independence enough to turn their attention towards London, where Europe’s largest bashment will take place this coming Sunday and Monday for Notting Hill Carnival. Technically it is scheduled then to take advantage of something the brits call August Bank Holiday but it also is conveniently timed for youto stumble your drunk self back to New York in time for the Labor Day explosion on Eastern Parkway. (Save some frequent flier miles though, cause after all that you might need a vacation).
But whether you’re an armchair dancehall queen or actually planning to be in London-town, the UK bashment experts of the Heatwave crew have put together the one-stop ramping shop for your Carnival needs on their blog, including, but not limited to, a downloadable blend of the biggest carnival anthems from ragga to soca (stream below) and guestlist info for their own event featuring man called DAVID RODIGAN (that’s big) and old-time junglist Shy FX (that’s crazy). True, they don’t sell feathers and shit but if you’re in the market you can cop all your mas camp-type needs here…and feel free to re-use your airhorn from our Trinidad Carnival kit. Cheers, mate.
