We get laced with so much good music around here that sometimes we forget to share. And then sometimes we have to tie a package of music into a bundle and post it just to make room for new deliveries. Monday is a good day for clearing the inbox and such–and as a side benefit you, the reader, start the workweek with a stack of selections to carry you painlessly through til Friday, when it’s bashment time again.
Seriously though, we are living in some kind of golden age of free beats. People love to complain about how music ain’t what it used to be but that’s probably just because there’s so much good, free music right at their fingertips. One day soon the bottom a go drop out but for now keep banging that bucket like there’s no tomorrow!
First off, our boy and Trini-bout-town Jillionaire put together this live set for Platform’s Boiler Room series that’s a who’s who of LARGE UP favorites from Machel Montanto to Gyptian to Bunji Garlin to Future Fambo to Theophilus to the new Baby Cham–I mean Cham–reunion with Bounty Killer, I mean Rodney Price. But best of all he set it off with UK grimefather Wiley getting mad over a Tivoli-meets-Bow thing called the Showa Eski riddim, produced by none other than our good dude (and Natalie Storm svengali) Prodigal.
