Erup emerged seemingly out of nowhere (actually he had the backing of some key players in Truck Back Records and Reggae Boyz soccer star Bibi Gardner) a few years back to score one of the recent dancehall epoch’s largest tunes in “Click Mi Finger.” While the vibes on his signature tune resonated with the ladies and the dancefloor, Erup is a man of culture, devoted to his community of Harbour View in eastern Kingston. The LARGE UP crew caught up with him in Harbour View, where he welcomed us in his yard and took us on a tour of the neighborhood, including the site where he is constructing a studio for his label, Fully Govern. Erup’s been quiet lately but expect him to re-emerge shortly with a few tricks up his now-veteran sleeve. Watch after the jump:
