Is it Spring yet??? After a few false starts, it seems like the weather is finally starting to come around here in the Northeast. Here’s hoping these mixes can help tun up the heat wherever you may be.
Chinese Assassin x RepJA clothing, Awoh!: Our peoples over at RepJA recently teamed up with Florida’s Chinese Assassin for Awoh!, a no-mercy, uncut dancehall mix that explodes right out the gate. Many of the tracks are labeled “megamix” because Chinese Assassin will throw in two or three songs per cut, really getting thorough on each juggle. As you may have guessed from the title there’s plenty of Vybz Kartel to go around, but if you’re concerned with slackness you may want to go inna different direction because this mix is that raw…..awoh! Download the mix here and make sure to pass thru RepJA for more.
Konshens x I & I Vibration, Addicted To Muzik (via 45 Shootout): The Bay Area’s I & I Vibration (Mr. Lucky, Beatnok and Hopper) always keep it 100, from their staple Monday night Skylarking party in San Francisco’s Mission District to their dedication in promoting and producing reggae and dancehall events all over Northern California. I-Vibe has also worked extensively with one of my personal favorite voices in modern reggae, Konshens. Addicted To Muzik clocks in at over an hour of music from his catalog, plus a few tunes from his friends, delivered fresh from DJ Beatnok. Get the tracklist and download here.
Kalibandulu Sound, Brand New Collection, Vol. 15: Repping for Italy and our folks at Shadyville Caribbean, Kalibandulu Sound (a five-man crew consisting of Rebel T, DJ Moiz, Mad Mike, Don Leo and Da Major) definitely came correct on Vol. 15 of their Brand New Collection mix series. This mix is 100% up to di time dancehall, with solid selection and skintight blends throughout. It’s always refreshing to hear a reggae (or any genre, for that matter) mixtape where the DJ actually matches and blends every mix on point. Although the credits only say “mixed by Kalibandulu” shout to the DJ who mixed this tape, everyting shine an criss. Download here, and get the tracklist here.
