What with the lack of big crossover hits, few big-name producers and remixers have dipped their hands into dancehall waters this year. One hit that’s grabbing some attention, though, is Mavado’s “Delilah.” Wesley “Diplo” Pentz, in the midst of re-tooling Major Lazer for an upcoming sophomore release said to feature contributions from Mavado, has taken a stab at “Delilah,” setting dubstep wobbles against the original’s poppy melodies. The well-timed remix also coincides with the biggest news item regarding Mavado in quite some time: that he’s re-gained the visa that has kept him out of the US since last spring. This weekend, two weeks after visiting New York for an interview with Bobby Konders and Jabba on radio station Hot 97, the Gully Gad announced he will play his first stageshow back in the US on Sept. 4 at the Reggae Rhythm & Blues concert in Queens, New York City.
