Third World, “1865: 96 Degrees in the Shade,” live at Reggae Sunsplash, 1983. No this is not technically a music video but there was no way I was not going to post this today because it is actually this hot in Brooklyn right now. Like, hotter than Africa-hot. Hotter then Super Cat in a ghetto red hot flannel shirt hot. It’s so hot even Spike Lee is tweeting Do The Right Thing quotes about how hot it is. What I’m trying to say is it’s a PIECE OF HEAT. But the only way you can really understand it if you’re not in NYC at the moment is to watch this video and imagine Samuel L. Jackson yelling “Jheri curl alert!” in your ear. If you have a jheri curl stay home or have a permanent plastic helmet stuck to your head.
