If you watch (American) football or just live in the New York area, you’ve probably seen the salsa dance that New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz does every time he celebrates scoring a touchdown. Yesterday, the Puerto Rican Cruz, who says his steps are his way of paying homage to his grandmother, who taught him the steps, paid a visit to Modell’s Sporting Goods in Times Square, where a T-shirt in his honor (which reads “Cruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuz” on the front, after the chant popular at Giants games, while depicting his “Silk City Salsa” moves on the back) is currently the store’s most popular item. The highlight, of course, was a demonstration of his endzone celebration with a group of kids and admiring females. Watch the New York Daily News’ video of the event below and, just in case you’re on the fence about who to support in next month’s Super Bowl game against the Patriots, read this New York Times profile from November on Cruz and Puerto Rican players in the NFL.
