While some of the LargeUp team is doing just fine in Miami during the WMC festivities (hopefully some of you got to catch the LU x Rice & Peas jumpoff with Mr Vegas last Wednesday) we gotta keep the thing rolling over here as always. Mixtape Mondays this week comes out blazing with a bagga new roots and high grade selections, plus a soca and bashment party from Sweden’s top mixtape authority. Spring is definitely in full effect around here, start your downloads…
High Grade Sound, Culture Mix Vol 14: Washington DC/Cali-based selectors and dubplate honchos High Grade (Fadda Grades, King Sest, Big Dread & Prime) are back with another quality mix CD for the people, co-signed by man like Kenny Meez. High Grade live up their name by weeding out the filler tunes and sticking with just the raw goods. Covering much ground in the new roots and culture department, big tunes, riddims and specials from the likes of Konshens, Bugle, Ginjah, Ward 21, Romain Virgo, Peetah Morgan, Chuck Fenda and Bobby Hustle & Dway from Seattle’s Dynasty Records camp percolate this 1.25 hour mix. If you’re looking for a new roots CD to add to the rotation, grab this one and done. Download and stream below, or get the tracked version available here.

Safari Sound, Mixpak FM 030 (via Mixpak): Swedish dancehall ambassadors and LU extended fam Safari Sound recently teamed up with another of our favorite teams in Mixpak Records for their top-rated and diverse Mixpak FM podcast (remember this guy did one last year as well, plus a heap of LU contibutors and familia). We always love to see our folks from different corners of the globe linking up, collaborating and spreading their individual sound and flavor with the world. Salute to the Mixpak crew and Safari every time for constantly doing their part in that. For Volume 30, expect all that dancehall heat (with no funny business) that you’ve come to expect from Safari’s Shirkhan & Sammy K, plus some big soca tunes and remixes, Safari exclusives, and a tropical Busy Signal remix from yours truly.
