Island Hopping: Leftside Links with Kes

Fresh off a strong showing at T&T Carnival 2012 and his first Manhattan performance at Best Buy Theater last month, Kees Dieffenthaller of Kes the Band recently teamed up with our favorite dancehall jester Leftside and Jamaican makeup artist-turned-vocalist Loni Jones for the pan-Caribbean anthem, “We Came to Party.” Released in time for Jamaica Bacchanal last week, the result, which comes in at a flat 3 minutes, isn’t quite dancehall or soca—producer 1st Klase’s riddim is more in line with the global club vibes that have been increasingly infiltrating the Caribbean. Did they pull it off?
