Words by Jesse Serwer, via Mad Decent—
With Major Lazer’s sophomore LP on the horizon, the Mad Decent collective seems to be getting back into island mode. The label just dropped the reggae-influenced Badman Rave EP from “Original Don” producers Party Squad last week, and now they’ve put us on to this brand-new release from a resurgent South Rakkas Crew (a/k/a D Rakkas), of Chinkuzi riddim fame.
Out today on Germaica Digital, the Chachi riddim features Ward 21 in combination with DeeWunn, JA’s RDX, U.K. yardies Stylo G & Serocee, plus a bunch of Jamaican and European deejays you’ve probably never heard of. A couple tunes misfire but for each of those there’s one like “Me No Waan Hear Nuttn” from Stylo and Serocee or the highly entertaining “I’m Not Terrorist” from Bosnia’s (yup, Bosnia) Sanjin & Youthman. Stream or download the Chachi megamix, and get yourself the full MP3 of Jamaican deejay Rage’s “Bounce It” while you’re at it, below.
