Words by Jesse Serwer—
Double the reasons to party, double the vibes. Has someone said that before? Welp, we’re saying it now. As New York’s famed Rice and Peas party celebrates its fifth anniversary in style at Santo’s Party House on Monday, June 4, newly launched record label The Ranch Entertainment will be celebrating its birth. Ranch artists Shaggy, Rayvon and Red Fox will take the stage while the Rice and Peas crew (Max Glazer, Micro Don, DJ Gravy, DJ Maya, Orijahnal Vibez) holds down the decks, and Massive B’s Jabba hosts. Oh, and the party will also be the set of a video shoot for Rayvon’s “Selecta,” so come looking proper.
The Ranch Entertainment is the new record label co-founded by Shaggy, named for his longtime recording studio (formerly Big Yard Studios) in Long Island, NY. Inaugurated with the Kingston 13 riddim earlier this year, the label has just released “Love Mi Jamaica,” featuring Shaggy, Red Fox and Andre “GC” Fennell, and “Make Up,” a collaboration between Shaggy and Wayne Wonder, on the Calabash riddim. Sample both below, and see you June 4.
