Mixtape Mondays: Leftside x Coppershot, Kardinal Offishall x Nottz, Stylo G x Chinese Assassin

Words by DJ Theory —

Massive week over here at Mixtape Mondays, with some exclusives-heavy tapes from three big artists. Leftside, Kardinal Offishal and Stylo G each throw down this week, all available free of charge with the touch of a button. Get some below and start your week right.

Leftside, The Transporter (mixed by Mr Shaun): Our favorite multi-personality dancehall artist Leftside a.k.a Dr. Evil just dropped a full-length mixtape blended up by Mr Shaun of Kingston’s mighty Coppershot Sound, and the ting madd a road. Being the mad wizard that Lefty is, he brews up a pot of straight bashment and dancehall, with original club productions, catchy hooks, freestyles, and peppered with various skits and the off-the-top comedy he’s known for. Pair up freestyles like that over the “Mercy” beat with big features like “Clap Dat” with Konshens, the “Want Yuh Body” remix w/ Sean Paul, and the sick new single “Begginz” with Tinkerbell, and you got the recipe for a tuff tape from Mr. Evil and Coppershot. Stream and download below, tracklist here.

Kardinal Offishal x Nottz Raw, Allow Me To Re-Introduce Myself: This one is much more than a mixtape, but rather a long-anticipated official collaboration album between Canadian-Jamaican don dada Kardinal Offishall and Virginian hip hop producer Nottz Raw. Now we all know Kardi got stacks of crossover hits over the years, and same can be said for Nottz, with production credits from B.I.G to Busta and nuff MCs in between. Nottz’s gritty, sample-driven chops provide an ample soundscape for Kardi to do his thing, making it clear once again that dudes who think they can tackle the hip-hop/patois thing shouldn’t quit their day job anytime soon… If you rate Kardi as an MC, Nottz on the boards, or just need some raw undiluted hip hop in your life, this one’s clearly for you. Download here.

Stylo G x Chinese Assassin, Call Me A Yardie Reloaded: Speaking of Kardi, who better to lead off the new ting (with a little help from Nigeria’s Sneakbo, on the “Call Me a Yardie” remix) from The UK’s Stylo G and one of the baddest mixtape machines in the world, Chinese Assassin. If you have any inclination for dancehall music you’ve already rinsed “Call Me A Yardie” heavy this past year, and for this tape from Chinese Assassin give you 35 more reasons to get up to speed with Stylo. Stream and download below, tracklist here.
