Badmind is the worsest disease, according to Vybz Kartel and Russian, and who cures diseases? Doctors! Hence the cover art for Kartel and producer/artist Russian’s new single “The Cure Fi Badmind,” which depicts both men in hospital scrubs and surgical masks, ready to operate on what they say out-ranks AIDS, diabetes, herpes and syphilis as Jamaica’s greatest ill. (For our less yard-savvt readers, “badmind” basically translates to “hating,” specifically on someone more successful than you).
Kartel has been surprisingly prolific for a guy behind bars these last few months, having most recently dropped the Russian-produced “Dynamite,” among other tunes, but “The Cure Fi Badmind” might be his most hotly anticipated, thanks to the clever title and theme, and its status as one of the last tunes Kartel voiced before his arrest last year. DJ Wayne premiered “The Cure Fi Badmind” on Irie FM in Jamaica last Friday, but we’re presenting it here for the first time online, and worldwide. Bun Badmind!
