Last year, our friend, the fabulous Anya Ayoung-Chee, repped hard for her country, Trinidad and Tobago, on Project Runway, even naming her final collection, “Tobago Love.” Not only did she win the competition but she was voted the fan favorite.
This year, Project Runway‘s Season 10 is featuring another Caribbean native, Ven Budhu, and thus far, he is proving that style is still alive and well in the West Indies. Budhu, who was born in Berbice, Guyana but was raised in New York from the age of four has his own line, Gavaskar, which he describes as “romanticism meets modern sophistication.” Budhu has already won a challenge for his dress made completely of rock candy, and received a great deal of praise from the judges.
