RDX’s “Jump” has been one of the biggest tunes in the Caribbean—and at bashments around the world—for months, and now it’s the basis for a top-notch refix (though “Crooklyn Clan-style party break record” would be a more accurate way to describe it) courtesy of The Heatwave.
A spur-of-the-moment creation concocted on a party boat in Croatia, of all places, the man called Gabriel Heatwave and crew introduce elements of Gappy Ranks’ “Wine Pon Di Edge,” Cham’s “Tun Up,” Tony Matterhorn’s “Dutty Wine,” Natassja’s “Calabria” and Alison Hinds’ “Roll It Gal” into the already manic energy of “Jump,” crafting something even more party boat-appropriate than the original, if that’s even possible. “The response was crazy and we NEARLY fell off the boat from all the scandalous excitement,” the crew tells us of that first spin, “but luckily we survived and managed to make it home with the laptop and MP3 intact.” Now you too can hear it without the Croatian party boat ticket previously required.
