Words by LargeUp Crew—
Marley merchandise is a big, hundred-millions-dollar-a-year business and, for years, the music legend’s family/estate was seeing very little of that, while bootlegging ran rampant. Recently, however, the family has begun taking this aspect of the late legend’s legacy back into their hands.
This week, the culmination of that effort, Bob Marley Shop (www.bobmarleyshop.com), launched, offering literally thousands of tees, bathing suits, hoodies and other gear, and not just for Bob, but the whole Marley clan—Ziggy, Stephen, Damian, Ky-Mani, Julian. The site is overseen by Bob’s fashion designer daughter Cedella Marley, whose Catch A Fire, High Tide (swimwear) and Nice Time (kidswear) lines are also sold through the site, as are Ghetto Youths, Tuff Gong, Rootswear, Marley Coffee, and even Buju Banton products.
To celebrate the launch, Bob Marley Shop and Zion Rootswear are giving LargeUp and Okayplayer readers a discount. Enter the code OKAY to receive a one-time 10-percent discount on entire orders, through Oct. 31. Here’s a few of the looks that caught our attention:
