It’s election time here in the States tomorrow—time for Americans to make our voices heard for a hot second and VOTE. This week’s Mixtape Mondays, though, is all about Australia and T&T: we’ve got mixes from both countries and another one which Major Lazer’s Trini representative, Jillionaire, mixed for an Aussie magazine. Make the right choice and download them all below.
Major Lazer, ITMFM Stereosonic mix: KABOOM! Very large new mix from the Major Lazer fam, cooked up for the folks at inthemix Australia. With our bredrin Jillionaire at the controls for this one, we open up with a nyabhingi intro leading right into an original one drop remix of Alex Clare’s “Too Close” by none other than yours truly. A few trap remixes move into a big new single from our dude Collie Buddz and the rest is a soca- and dancehall-infused mash of signature Major Lazer vibes, with that extra “Trini Chris” touch. This will get your week looking right real quick. Stream and download below, tracklist here.
Dei Musicale, 2013 Soca Sampler #1: T&T-based soundsystem Dei Musicale are back with another soca smash, giving us a first look as to what to expect for Carnival 2013. Some big and unreleased tunes here from Kes, Kerwin DuBois, Super Jigga TC, Lil Rick, Problem Child, Bunji, Alison Hinds and, of course, the big boss Machel Montano. If you’re in search of some brand new soca inna the market look no further than here. Stream below, download here, tracklist here.
Iron Gate Sound, I Alone: Making their Mixtape Mondays debut, selectors Flip and Gilsun of Sydney, Australia’s Iron Gate Sound built a mean tape of choice new dancehall singles and riddims, with some clever customs and unique specials from up and comers like Masicka and Kabaka Pyramid. They also got veteran singer Utan Green over a Flosstradamus beat—definitely trodding on some new territory with that combination. Overall, the tape is madd and will get your dancehall motor running on that clean diesel quick quick quick quick quick. Stream and download below, tracklist here.
