Posted entirely in Europe this round, we have three different angles combining energy from Sweden, Italy and The UK. Instrumental dancehall productions, brand new hits, and a full-strength live tape build just another week here at Mixtape Mondays. Run chune.
Safari Sound, Live @ Big Bang Reggae Yard: Push up yuh one for Safari Sound one time… One of the baddest mixtape and juggling sounds straight from Sweden bring the lava to Rome, Italy and burn down the Big Bang Reggae Yard party on this live recording. Peeled fresh off the room mics, this is a raw and uncut slice of reggae and dancehall, and the vibe in Italy sounds right with Shirkhan on dubs and selection and Sammy K controlling the crowd. Almost two hours of bare shellings courtesy of Safari. Stream and download below:
Kalibandulu, Brand New Mix CD #35: If you need a quick and to-the-point refresher on current dancehall, look no further than Kalibandulu‘s Brand New Collection mix series. Staying on top of modern dancehall is a full time job, and this Italian team gets it done every time with at least an hour of unfiltered heat. Brand new tunes this edition from Mavado, Vybz Kartel, Demarco, Konshens, I Octane, Popcaan, Beenie, the new bomb from Gappy Ranks & Busy, a rifle shot at Tommy Lee from Bounty Killer, and more. Serious ting. Stream and download below, tracklist here.
Can You Felix x Hipsters Don’t Dance, Strictly Riddim vol.3: I’m definitely into this new mixtape run from our folks at London’s Hipsters Don’t Dance. Instrumental versions of dancehall riddims — from classic, modern and iconic, to newer sounds from the likes of Murlo, Dubbel Dutch and Dre Skull. Some of my post-90’s dancehall favorites are on here, and it didn’t hurt at all for London’s Can You Felix to lead off the ting with two timeless Dave Kelly productions. That’s a quick way to get us involved over here. Work on your budding deejay skills or just hold a vibe with this one. Stream below, tracklist here, download here.
