Words by DJ Theory—
2013 is in full swing, and we’ve got some serious mixes to keep things rolling. Dancehall, lovers rock, and much much more set the tone for just another week here at Mixtape Mondays.
Walshy Fire, Strictly The Best 47: Our dude Walshy Fire (who’s no doubt recovering from the Holy Ship debauchery at the moment) found time amidst his daily mayhem to build the newest mixtape for VP Records‘ latest Strictly The Best compilation. Leading off with RDX’s “Jump,” undisputably one of the biggest dancehall tunes of 2012, Walshy keeps it moving with a string of 2012 dancehall anthems, along with some past Strictly The Best favorites for good measure. No brainer. Stream and download below:
Toddla T, House Party: So you wanna have a party? The Toddla T Sound got you covered like a petticoat in London. Toddla rang in the New year this New Year’s Eve on Channel 4 UK alongside some world-class talent, and this rip of the show brings the thunder from London straight to your desktop. With a healthy serving of dancehall in the opening segment (leading off with our guy Gabriel Heatwave’s “Call Me A Yardie” megamix) Toddla weaves into a proper UK house party set which includes Roots Manuva, Crystal Waters, The Specials, some moombahton, some massive dubplates, and bits of rap, jungle, house, bassline, grime and UK funky. With LDN badman Serocee on the mic, this live set is well wicked. Stream the ting below:
Stingray Disco, Treasure Box Vol. 3: A quality lovers rock mix is always welcome here, and MM newcomers Stingray Disco deliver the goods this time around. Repping for the European massive this Cologne, Germany crew has a steady flow of works brewing in the reggae music department. This mix is simply some straight up modern and classic lovers to get you vibing through the work week, and if you’re lucky perhaps into the bedroom. Stream and download below, tracklist here.
