Chronixx—our No. 1 Artist to Watch for 2013—is definitely starting the year out with a bang. Fresh off his recent sitdown with our Erin MacLeod, the singer has announced an appearance at next week’s Rebel Salute concert and an upcoming collaboration with Sizzla. He was also spotted this week on the set for Major Lazer’s 90s-dancehall-period-piece video for “Bumaye” featuring Busy Signal. And now he’s just dropped his first video of the year, for one of his most accessible tunes to date in “The Mini Song.”
The easygoing combination with deejay Goldy samples and borrows the premise of Willie Francis’ vintage rocksteady tune “Oh What a Mini,” and the Yosef Imagination-directed video, with its ’60s-style dances, evokes the innocence of that era. Watch below, and, for more Chronixx, download his Major Lazer-backed Catch a Fire mixtape here.
