LargeUp Premiere: New Kingston’s “Life” Video

Words by Jesse Serwer—

New Kingston drop their Kingston University LP today: the NYC-based trio’s sophomore album is a diverse effort that draws on pop, hip-hop, dancehall and R&B influences while remaining a distinctly reggae affair.

“Life” is the lead single, and our favorite tune, on the LP, and we’ve got the world premiere of its gritty new video. Shot against the backdrop of dark New York streets and gritty industrial yards, the video tells the story of a family’s struggles to remain intact in the city. We won’t say exactly what goes down—’cause that would spoil the story-driven clip—but things get real involved for something that clocks in at less than four minutes.

Watch the video below, purchase Kingston University here, and tune into the LargeUp Sessions from 6 to 8 p.m. on RadioLily.com this Thursday night for an interview with New Kingston.
