Words by LargeUp Crew—
LargeUp is bringing some-much needed dancehall flavor to this year’s Winter Music Conference, with our second annual Winter Music Massive on Thursday, March 21 at Blackbird Ordinary in Downtown Miami.
The Rice and Peas crew (DJ Gravy, Micro Don, Orijahnal Vibez, Corey Chase) will be holding down the sound once again but this year we’ve also teamed with Jasmine Solano and Melo-X, who will bring the vibes from their own unique NY bashment Electric Punanny, plus the crew from Miami’s Riddim Series—Eccentrix Sound, Scotch Bonnet and Black Chiney. Our featured performer will be none other than Johnny Osbourne. The dancehall godfather might not be the first person you’d equate with the hedonistic vibes at WMC, but given his appearance on Major Lazer’s latest dancehall x dubstep banger “Jah No Partial,” his presence at this event feels extra appropriate. We also hear this is his first South Florida performance in years, or ever even.
Also stopping through to touch the mic will be the lovely and talented Miss Jovi Rockwell (catch our recent feature on her), our good friend Jahdan Blakkamoore and—who knows—maybe some special guests. If that’s not enough, the folks from South Florida’s Truck Stop will be bringing their famous jerk chicken and pork through, too. (Did we mention drink specials from Blackwell Rum and T-shirt giveaways from RepJA?) No fool fool business, this is real reggae/dancehall vibes at WMC!
RSVP at wintermusicmassive.eventbrite.com. RSVP is a must for entry.
