The weather was perfect, the vibes were just right and the jerk chicken was delicious at LargeUp’s Winter Music Massive Thursday night at Blackbird Ordinary in Miami. When the Rice and Peas, Electric Punanny and Riddim Series crews get together, you just know it’s going to be a night to remember.
The only Caribbean/reggae/dancehall party in Miami during Winter Music Conference, LargeUp’s second annual WMC party brought out live performances from the dancehall godfather Johnny Osbourne, rebel love goddess Jovi Rockwell and Jahdan Blakkamoore, while Melo-X, Jasmine Solano, DJ Gravy, Orijahnal Vibez, Addy Eccentix, Willy Chin and Corey Chase held down the sounds both inside and out. And we can’t forget our MCs Steve Austin (of BCAT fame) and Scotch Bonnet (99 Jamz), special guests Notch (of Born Jamericans fame) and Nyla of Brick and Lace, jerk chef Gregory Yee from Good 2 Go, Omar and Andre RepJA with the T-shirt giveaways, and the open-bar rum from Blackwell Rum that got everybody loose on the early side. Scroll through the photo series to remember the night, or act like you were there.
