Produced by the Bay Area’s DJ I-Vier, “Selassie Souljahz” is one of the tuffest reggae tunes to come across our desk so far this year. The conscious reggae posse cut features Chronixx, Protoje and Kabaka Pyramid longside Sizzla over a heavyweight, hip-hop influenced riddim. Melodica player and up-and-coming reggae force Addis Pablo, son of the late Augustus Pablo, and his group Suns of Dub have reworked the song five times over for an upcoming EP due out next month on I-Vier’s Royal Order label.
David Rodigan premiered portions of the “Vocal Dub” and “Melodica” versions on his 1Xtra radio show on Sunday; we’ve got the latter in full here for the first time. Stream below, and tell us what you think in the comments.
