Monday is here yet again, and so are some fresh new mixes from Italy, Seattle and Jamaica. Pretty roots-centric edition here with an album sneak peek and a stacked CD of ganja anthems in a dubplate fashion. Twist something and press play below.
Balooba Sound, Music Still Alive: Brand new roots, lovers and one drop mix from Italy’s Balooba Sound, hosted by our friend Tarrus Riley and mixed live by Moko DJ. Straight juggling from start to finish, no long talking or trickery, just an hour of vibes from some of your favorite voices in modern reggae music. For more Balooba mixes check out some of their radio shows here, or download past mixes here. Stream Music Still Alive below, download single track here, tracked version here.
Blessed Coast x Bobby Hustle, Legal Weed: Seattle fam Blessed Coast and Bobby Hustle are back at it, this time teaming up for a mix of strictly high grade dubplates pulled from the Blessed Coast vaults. 100% ganja specials to be exact, likely as testament and celebration to the fact that much of the Northwest is fully clouded in weed smoke nowadays — something this crew isn’t mad at at all. Bobby does his thing and puts his stamp on the mix, contributing some freestyles and hosting duties, while Blessed Coast peels off sheets of dubs from a stack of big artists, all showing love for the (legal) weed. Stream and download below, tracklist here.
King I-Vier x General Jah Mikey, Original Yard Food Megamix: Quick preview for the upcoming album Original Yard Food from veteran JA singer General Jah Mikey. Mixed by Bay Area champion selecta/producer King I-Vier of Jah Warrior Shelter H-Fi, this is merely a teaser of what’s to soon come from General Jah Mikey’s new record proudly presented by our folks at Zion High and Soul Of The Lion. This is conscious roots music, undiluted and straight from the heart. Although short, it’s very sweet, and should definitely raise anticipation for the record. Stream below, more info here. Look out for the full album May 14th.
