Mixtape Mondays: Uproot Andy, Safari Sound, Poirier

Words by Deejay Theory —

Blessings flowing in this week at Mixtape Mondays with three heavyweight mixes live and uncut from Brooklyn, Sweden and Montreal. Regardless of what lies ahead of you this week we got you covered as always. Get right below.

Uproot Andy, Worldwide Ting Mixtape: Whoa gosh, big big mix here from ace Brooklyn selector/producer Uproot Andy, comprised of 100% original remixes. Andy has been at the peak of the tropical echelon for over a minute now, bringing his unique and signature Latin, Caribbean and global bass palette to the world, so it’s only right that his monthly NYC party Que Bajo with co-amigo Geko Jones has now extended into an imprint of their own. This mix is drenched in vitamin D from start to finish, and also celebrates the launch of Que Bajo Records with each tune doubling as previews of forthcoming releases. If you’re a fan of digital cumbia, moombahton, and large doses of tropical heat, this is the one. Catch the Que Bajo crew in action going head to head with our folks Federation and more at the RBMA Culture Clash 5/9 in NYC. Stream and download the mix below, tracklist here.

Safari Sound, Word, Sound and Power Vol. 1: It’s always a strong Monday when a new Safari Sound tape is up for grabs, especially a badder than badd one drop and culture ting that’s straight vibes from front to back. Over an hour of new music here, first up in a new mix series focused on sweet and powerful roots music, and heavily strengthened with dubs and specials as you would only come to expect from this Swedish champion sound. Safari just returned from a tour in Japan longside the mighty Unity Sound, who also happened to drop a killer new roots mix—cop that as well right here to add more crucial selections to your week and your library. Stream and download below, tracklist here.

Poirier, Corruption Proof Mix: Our Northern friend Poirier has a wicked new mix on deck, hosted by frequent collaborator Face-T. Ghislain is recognized the world over for rattling bassbins with BPM-bending DJ sets and a diverse discog of material on fine labels like Man Recordings, Ninja Tune and Mixpak—but for this, he taps into his love of reggae and dancehall to give the people an untainted 70 minute journey of new tunes and classic material. This tape also serves as a cheers to the 5-year anniversary of his Sud-West party in Montreal with partner Ghostbeard. No tracklist yet, but some notables from Protoje, YT, Beenie, Leftside, Stylo G, RDX, Wrongtom and many more. Instant download for the week ahead. Stream and download below, more info here.
