Without much fanfare, Equiknoxx Music are making some of the most creative and interesting dancehall music right now. Actually, they’ve been doing that for a while. Their Wash Belly is one of our favorite riddims in recent years.
The production team led by Koffy Knoxx has just released a new EP called V-Town Sound: The Anti-Thesis. (it’s a sequel to an earlier V-Town Sound installment dubbed The Thesis), and every track is straight badness.
The sounds on the four-song release are diverse, from the Neptunes-meets-reggae vibes of Kabaka Pyramid and Masicka’s single “Choppingz,” the record’s standout track, to “Ghost Of Fort Rocky,” its strangest track, which almost has a sort of Beatles influence going onโthe later, trippy, psychedelic Beatles, we mean. The EP also has appearances from Ky-Mani Marley and late Equiknoxx crew member J.O.E.
