In April, we had the pleasure of chatting with Nyla Thorbourne, one half of the Miami-based dancehall/pop sister duo, Brick & Lace. After changing the spelling of her name (from Nailah), she launched her solo career, separate from her sister Nyanda, and gave us an exclusive listen to her first single “Stand Up,” released on Ky-mani Marley’s label, Konfrontation Muzik. The catchy tune (produced by Corey Chase and Mucka Hill), which has an R&B vibe and some fairly obvious sexual innuendos in the lyrics, has now been followed up with an equally sexy video.
The video was shot in one day and was shot by Miami-based director, Damian Fyffe, who has worked with big names like Lil’ Wayne, Pitbull and Justin Bieber. It features Nyla, styled by our friends at Kingston Style, alternating between booty shorts and bare midriff, serenading a very fine, bald man. She shows off her toned body by giving us just a little wining and leaves us wanting more. We hear she’s already shot her next video so stay tuned. Check out “Stand Up” below.
