LargeUp TV: Sister Nancy at Soho House

Words by LargeUp Crew

Earlier this summer, LargeUp celebrated the rising of the Supermoon with a Reggae Sunday Sunset Session at New York’s exclusive Soho House. Featuring a live performance from Sister Nancy of “Bam Bam” and “One Two,” the event was a unique opportunity to bring authentic dancehall vibes to one of New York’s most exclusive locations, and is still being talked about by nearly everyone who was there.

In this video from the evening, Sister Nancy discusses her role as dancehall’s first female deejay, and discovering how big “Bam Bam” had become in the U.S. upon her arrival here in 1996, a decade and a half after it was released. Watch for cameos from LargeUp’s DJ Gravy and crew members Micro Don, Emily Shapiro, Lindsay Hall and Blacka Di Danca, read the full event wrap-up here, and see the full photo gallery here.
