Words by LargeUp Crew—
Mr. Easy’s name might not be a household one, but the Jamaica-by-way-of-NYC singjay has been making hits for well over two decades. An original member of Brooklyn’s Ruff Entry Crew—dancehall’s Wu Tang Clan—with Shaggy, Screechy Dan, Red Fox and Rayvon, among others, Easy has appeared on some of dancehall’s most classic riddims over the years, from the Joyride (that’s him singing on “Strange Things” aka “Funny Man” with Baby Cham) to the Buy Out.
The man’s history and catalog are too deep to expound upon here, so we’re super pleased to have Easy as a guest on this week’s LargeUp Sessions (6 to 8pm EST on RadioLily.com). This won’t be a trip through the past, though: Easy has some serious new heat he’s been cooking up with artist/producer RickyBlaze—who will also be stopping by— that we’ll be getting into. Check out the new track “The Don” we featured here a few weeks ago, and look out for their upcoming collaboration called “Dance” premiering on LargeUp soon. Until then, here’s a few of Easy’s classics to jog your memory, or help you get familiar:
