Words by LargeUp Crew—
The deejay who gave New York’s dancehall scene its style and swagger in the 1990s is back, and more prolific than ever. LargeUp has teamed with Sweden’s Safari Sound to present Fiyah Fox, the first-ever mixtape from Red Fox, and his first full-length release in 17 years. Blended in fine style by Safari’s DJ Shirkhan, Fiyah Fox features over an hour of scorchers including all of Red’s latest tunes, brand-new originals, dubplate versions of his classics, hip-hop freestyles and more.
Guests include Shaggy, Rayvon, Naturalee, Gramps Morgan, Screechy Dan, Christopher Martin, Chico, Golden Child and Jimmy Cozier. Red’s always been known for his diverse lyrical themes, and Fiyah Fox definitely touches all of the bases, from culture tunes to dancefloor fillers and even a little much-needed comedy.
Download Fiyah Fox below, keep an eye out for our in-depth interview with Red, and, if you’re be in NYC, meet us at the Fiyah Fox release party tonight at the new-and-improved Brand New Machine party at The Delancey.
