King Kong Disko, A Tribute to Nelson Mandela: Salute to Hamburg, Germany’s King Kong Disko for putting together this heartfelt mix in honor of the recent passing of freedom fighting revolutionary Nelson Mandela. The mix serves as an appreciation piece, compiling 15 tracks from classic reggae artists — many from the 80’s while he was still imprisoned — all giving their praise and appreciation to Mandela. As KKD puts it, “this mix gives you a very good impression of how Caribbean artists have always shown a very deep interest in the political struggle of the people of the African continent.” Nicely done. Stream below, more info and tracklist here.
SoulForce, SoulForce, Essential Mix Vol.2: The fellas over at SoulForce have been busy as always cooking up all varieties of Caribbean remixes from their collective habitats in Spain and Germany. For this endeavor they’ve compiled a stacked list of their exclusive remixes and edits and mash them all into one straight mixtape combining hip hop, dancehall, moombahton and more. Catch some of their alias works on here too from Lieders of The New School as well as tunes with Prince Zimboo and the man like BRNGTN. Stream below, download and tracklist here.
Formila One x Broken Silence Sound, Musical Bandelero: California-based champion soundsystem Broken Silence are back with a new mixtape in collaboration with up-and-coming Kingston dancehall artist Formila One. Formila One is also part of the same camp as G Whizz who they’ve also voiced mixes with in the past so it’s a natural thing. Stream and download below.
