The second installment in our Meditations documentary series (check Part 1 here) features some peaceful vibes with Suns of Dub’s Addis Pablo. Addis, son of dub legend Augustus Pablo and heir to his father’s status as reggae’s foremost exponent of the melodica, sat with us in Earl “Chinna” Smith’s yard to share some insight about growing up surrounded with music, and how he carries on his father’s mystic tradition today.
Inspired by this recently unearthed footage of Augustus with Hugh Mundell, we then joined him, singer Jesse Royal and drummer Tesfa Zion on Jack’s Hill for an acoustic session overlooking Kingston.
Stay locked for Meditations Part 3 next week, featuring a jam at Chinna Smith’s home led by Ras Michael. For more with Addis Pablo and Suns of Dub, tune into The LargeUp Sessions on RadioLily.com this Thursday night (5-8 EST) when Addis will join us live on the air to celebrate Suns of Dub’s new Major Lazer-produced, LargeUp-powered mixtape.
