Busta Rhymes is Jamaican and has a history of collaborating with Caribbean artists but he’s really made it a point recently to rep his culture with a growing number of collaborations. In just the past few months, we’ve heard him sit in with Shabba Ranks (via A$AP Ferg) and Bunji Garlin. He’s continuing the trend with a verse on “Ganja Fi Bun,” a new tune from reggae legend Beenie Man. Beenie and Busta have collaborated in the past, notably on the 2011 remix to party anthem “Rum & Redbull” and 2009 booty-shaker “Jiggle.”
“Ganja Fi Bun” is a mellower turn for the duo, coupling a gritty, almost retro beat with an infectious chorus. Busta’s patois aside, the tune showcases his (and Beenie’s) lyrical prowess. “Ganja” is just one track off of Locke City Music Group’s Nuffings Riddim, which also features jams from Mega Banton and New Kidz – download the whole thing free here.
