Words by Natalie Weiner—

A new track from Vybz Kartel and Buju Banton in 2014? Though both artists have been jailed for several years, that hasn’t stopped them from dropping “new” music.

Vybz, for one, has been seemingly as prolific in the two-plus years he’s been in jail as he was before, even as he and his representation maintain that he’s not able to record anything in prison despite persistent rumors to the contrary. This record, from Miami label SoBe Entertainment, features the two dancehall stars alongside its own signees — Jamaican songstress Ce’Cile and, a name previously unknown to us, Ragga Bear. Despite its mysterious origins,”No One Time” is worthy of a few rewinds, with four very different voices coming together on top of a choice, hip-hop-flavored riddim.

However it is that this one came about (details, anyone?), here’s hoping for more verses from these two legends in 2014. Stream the tune below, and tell us what you think of this unexpected pairing.
