Brooklyn-based, LA-raised artist and Complex art director Brent Rollins doesn’t exactly need to pad his resume. The half-Bajan, half-Vietnamese illustrator has designed album covers for Black Star, Blackalicious and Freeway, and the iconic logo for the classic movie Boyz N The Hood.
His very first design gig (at age 19) was with Spike Lee and since then he’s been bringing his bold graphics to magazines and galleries the world over.
A part of the LargeUp family from the start, Brent also designed the LargeUp sunset logo. So we were glad to see him get some shine as the first featured artist in the new G-Shock Profiles video series from FRANK151. This trailer gives a glimpse inside Rollins’ studio, as well as some insight into how he got his start as an artist. Check it out below, and look for the full video drop on Friday.
