Suns of Dub’s mix of Slum Village’s “Fall In Love” was easily one of our favorite tunes on their self-titled mixtape, premiered right here in December. There’s no real rocket science involved: Suns (at the suggestion of mixtape producer Walshy Fire) had their Addis Pablo play on top of the J Dilla-produced instrumental, creating a conversation between Addis’ melodica (in place of T3 and Baatin’s verses) and Dilla’s haunting hook.
In honor of J Dilla Month (the late producer’s 40th birthday was Feb. 7, and he also passed away during the month of February), Suns of Dub have shared the remix, available for the first time as a standalone track. Cop it below, hear more from Suns of Dub at their Soundcloud and go behind the scenes with Addis (son of the late Augustus Pablo) and Sons of Dub cohort Ras Jammy in our “Meditations” documentary series.
