Words by LargeUp Crew—
While the rest of Trinidad was celebrating Carnival on Tuesday, Bunji Garlin was handling his business. Well, he was celebrating on d road, too, but the Viking of Soca (who had a huge Carnival season despite no official accolades, as he abstained from this year’s Soca Monarch competition) also quietly dropped his new EP, Carnival Tabanca, through VP Records.
VP has given LargeUp an exclusive stream of the four-track EP, which collects 2014 offerings “Carnival Tabanca,” “Truck on D Road,” “Red Light District” as well as a “Viking Remix” of “Carnival Tabanca.”
What is Carnival Tabanca, you ask? Read our primer on this most unique of afflictions right here.
So what’s next for Bunji? Well, first up is a visit to Austin, Texas for South by Southwest. Stay tuned to LargeUp for more details on that, and an interview with “Truck On D Road” producers Jus Now.
