Popcaan has much to be thankful for—cosigns from artists like Pusha T, Drake, Busta, and Snoop, a Billboard-charting single, multiple international tours… all before he’s dropped a full-length album. So it makes sense that he’s expressing his gratitude in “Everything Nice,” the first single off his upcoming Mixpak Records debut. Featuring an airy riddim from Dubbel Dutch, the track shows off Popcaan’s smooth vocals as he sings about balancing hard work and good times.
Popcaan has been rising up the dancehall ranks for a few years now. His abundant catchy, hook-filled singles have made him a household name in Jamaica and the Caribbean, and the aforementioned hip-hop collaborations have finally put him on the map in North America. His “unorthodox and oddly melodious delivery” has helped him move from Vybz Kartel protegé to one of dancehall’s biggest crossover artists. Hear more from the man himself in our LargeUp TV exclusive, “A Day In The Life with Popcaan.”
As for the sleek, black-and-white “Everything Nice” video, it’s as stripped-down and laid-back as the song itself. Popcaan sings in front of a white background, as various friends including Ace Hood, Mavado, Gyptian, Jah Cure, and Dre Island and Chi Ching Ching join him in front of the camera (as well as a few choice gyals, of course). Take your cue from Popcaan and celebrate that it’s Friday with a glass of Henny, a few of your closest (hit-making) friends, and this mellow jam.
