Jillionaire, of Major Lazer fame and an esteemed member of the LargeUp family, has been putting in work on some of his side projects recently. After two years on the road with Major Lazer, he’s just launched his new label Feel Up Records, which just dropped its first release (the new Grand Analog LP) yesterday.
Jillionaire’s first single for the new label “Fresh,” which Major Lazer started playing live late last year, is officially dropping today on BBC Radio 1Xtra, accompanied by a predictably fly video filmed entirely in NYC. Co-produced by Salvatore Ganacci and featuring the Mr. Lexx-esque vocal stylings of Sanjin (both of Sweden via the Balkans), the track features the irresistible blend of dancehall and EDM that’s made Major Lazer a club staple. I mean, it’s already got girls twerking in the snow…
Which brings us to the video. Director Shomi Patwary (of KarmaloopTV) decided to showcase the “Fresh” snow that had conveniently coated the city by bringing a dance team including Major Lazer’s Mela Murder to both a pristine Central Park and some gritty outer borough warehouses. Braving the cold in their standard barely-there outfits, the ladies still brought the bashment heat with their always incredible dancing. The video also features cameos from Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire and Swedish dancehall producer Youthman, among others.
It’s the perfect way to remember how far we’ve come, now that the NYC temps are finally above freezing—and to celebrate that summer is just about here. The single officially drops April 30th on iTunes and Beatport in the U.S., check out the video below and let us know what you think!
