Words by LargeUp Crew—
LargeUp is to two of our favorite culture specialists, Protoje and Pressure Busspipe, on this Thursday’s edition of the #LargeUpSessions radio show.
Pressure joins us from the U.S. Virgin Islands, where he’s just dropped one of the year’s best reggae LPs, The Sound, in connection with I-Grade Records. The artist you know from tunes like the now-classic “Love and Affection” and “Virgin Islands Nice”—the official soundtrack of the USVI’s new ad campaign. He’ll be dropping by fresh from a Thursday TV taping with Wendy Williams, and ahead of Sunday’s The Sound album release show in NYC at SOBs. (Buy tickets here). Read our recent “Time Is Now” feature on Busspipe here, and look out for his “Show Love” video premiering on LargeUp.com later this week.
A staple presence on LargeUp since our launch, Protoje visits us after dropping the epic “Who Knows” video with Chronixx earlier this month. He’ll stop by to discuss his role in the reggae revival that’s swept Jamaican music the last few years, as well as the upcoming LP he’s releasing later this year. If you don’t have it already, his latest release, The 8-Year Affair, is a must for modern reggae. Get familiar with Protoje in our 2013 interview.
Tune in on Thursday at 6pm Eastern Standard Time on RadioLily.com. And if you’re in NYC, drop by Miss Lily’s Variety, at 130 W. Houston St and come catch everything live .
