Dub pioneer Scientist is bringing his trademark sound to a slightly unexpected collaboration—a remix of Bay Area dance collective Afrolicious‘s disco tune “Crazy.” A disco track with a distinct Caribbean flavor, the track features bouncy guitars, catchy horn licks, a melodica and the vocal stylings of Trinidad & Tobago’s Freshislife, who actually inspired the remix. The now Los Angeles-based Scientist heard the original at an Afrolicious show, and according to the band’s leader Pleasuremaker, “wanted to know who the vocalist was on our song ‘Crazy.’ He told me it reminded him of the late Jamaican vocalist Junior Delgado who was one of his frequent collaborators. He offered to do a remix on the spot…”
