Mixtape Mondays: Dubbel Dutch, Jus’ Now, So Shifty, Tropkillaz

Words by Deejay Theory

Some mammoth tropical explosions on deck this week at Mixtape Mondays with big energy, bass and vibes bussing from every corner. Summer going up! up! up!

Dubbel Dutch, FADER Mix: Take a moment to explore the corners of dancehall space via the latest mix offering from Brooklyn DJ/producer Dubbel Dutch. The man has been busier than ever churning out heaps of quality versions for the Mixpak family, most recently boasting a handful of credits on the acclaimed debut album Where We Come From from our chargie Popcaan. Leading off with an appropriate combination from the record, you’re soon treated to a quick cornucopia of new and exclusive directions in modern dancehall and R&B. Peep the interview and tracklist via FADER here, stream and download below.

Bonus: Jus’ Now, FADER Mix: Had to include this additional mix from the FADER crew who tapped some of our favorite producers of the moment, Jus Now, for another mix excursion. Look out for a grip of exclusives and brand new material on this one highlighting strictly original and heavyweight productions from the wicked UK-meets-Trinidad duo. Stream and download below, tracklist & interview here.

So Shifty, Summer Cyaan Done: In salute to summer, our folks in Hamburg at the So Shifty lab are  doing everything in their power to distribute fine Caribbean-inspired music to the masses. From dancehall and one drop to soca, authentic dubs and straight-up perreo, Bigga T and Jr. Blender continue to do their part to deliver the summer soundtrack all year. For theit latest mix, they dig deep into the craze that’s sweeping the dance at the moment combining afropop and azonoto rhythms with current bashment for a wicked seasonal stew. Stream and download below, tracklist here.

Tropkillaz, Tropikal Bass Killers: If you’ve been up on what’s commonly reffered to as Tropical Bass music this past year or so, you’ve no doubt come across the 808-driven madness of Brazilian duo Tropkillaz. They’ve taken the globe by storm with an onslaught of original tunes (which they crank out on the regular and usually serve up free of charge), and now this is their first release in mix format. Much like their raucous productions this isn’t exactly a mellow affair, so whenever you’re ready to turn it up a notch they’ll be ready and waiting to dish out heavy bass and tropical destruction. Stream below, tracklist and download here.
