Sure, the first day of summer was officially last weekend, but the season has officially arrived this week with the release of Popcaan’s annual summertime anthem. “Unruly Party” is a classic ode to a night out filled with gyals in tight shorts, strong liquor, and, of course, some Instagramming. The song, on E5 Records’ Beach Life riddim, features production from E5’s Mini, and its upbeat vibe and lighthearted lyrics are sure to make it a must-play at this summer’s parties, much like “Party Shot,” and “Unruly Rave” in years before.
“Unruly Party” is one of Popcaan’s first releases since his debut full-length Where We Come From dropped about a month ago. While that album showcased the Unruly Boss’s more serious side, this playful track puts him squarely in the race for dancehall song of the summer. You can preview the rest of the Beach Life riddim here (it also features tracks from Chi Ching Ching and Denyque) ahead of its release on July 15.
