LargeUp Premiere: Martei Korley’s “Couldn’t Be Wrong” Video

LargeUp co-founder and creative director Martei Korley is the photographer behind countless classic reggae images, but he’s also a reggae artist himself. Today being International Reggae Day, he’s decided to share this other side of his creativity with the world in the form of his video for “Couldn’t Be Wrong,” shot between his two homes of Kingston, Jamaica and New York City.

“Couldn’t Be Wrong,” off Martei’s Kingston Konfidential EP (out July 22 and available for pre-order today) is “about a long-distance relationship, and, in some ways, also about my relationship with Jamaica,” Martei tells us. The clip, directed by Johnny Dollar and co-starring up and coming singer Sevana, illustrates this theme with travel footage taken at JFK Airport in NY and Norman Manley in Kingston, and high up in the sky above both cities on a 747. The result is a visually stimulating clip that will feel familiar to anyone who’s ever had miles between them and what they love. For more on Martei’s journey, read our interview with him here.
