LargeUp Premiere: Stream Martei Korley’s “Kingston Konfidential” EP

Words by LargeUp Crew—

If you’ve followed reggae music for the last 15 years, you’ve seen the work of Martei Korley. As a photographer, he has snapped cover images for albums by Beres Hammond, Busy Signal and I-Wayne, to name a few, as well as countless editorial features for magazines including As LargeUp’s co-founder, creative director and chief photographer, he’s also responsible for the look of this site, taking many of the memorable images that have distinguished us as the web’s top destination for Caribbean music and culture.

Now, Martei is stepping out as a reggae singer himself, with the release of his Kingston Konfidential EP. The eight-track EP features six originals and two dubs including the singles “Concrete Flower” and “Couldn’t Be Wrong.”

Recorded at Anchor, Phase One and Rory Stonelove studios, Kingston Konfidential features production from Mitchum “Khan” Chin (Black Chiney/Firehouse Crew), Syrix/Irie Vibrations and Yo-Akim and instrumentation from top Jamaican musicians, including Mitchum “Khan” Chin, Donald “Danny Bassie” Dennis, Paul “Wrong Move” Crossdale, Andrew “Stringy” Marsh, George Miller and Paul “SCUBI” Smith.

Read more about Martei in the recent feature “Rolling with Martei Korley”, and watch his “Couldn’t Be Wrong” video, co-starring up and coming Jamaican singer Sevana, here. Stream Kingston Konfidential below:
