Words by LargeUp Crew-
With the 2015 Trinidad Carnival season getting off to a start, British-Trini production duo (and regularly featured LargeUp staples) Jus Now have dug into the 2013 Soca archives to put their own twist on Blaxx’s bacchanal instigator ‘Leh Go.’ For their version of his hit, they’ve coupled the artist’s commanding vocals with a raw rhythm section instrumental, managing to preserve the lightheartedness of the original tune while masterfully interpolating the sounds of a steel pan orchestra.
When Large Up interviewed the masterminds behind such Carnival 2014 contributions as Bunji Garlin’s ‘Truck on D Road’ and Machel Montano’s ‘D Junction’ earlier this year, they revealed that a collaborative project with the Laventille Rhythm Section was underway. Their ‘Leh Go’ rendition is indicative of the work being done and serves as a testimony to the group’s ability to adapt and innovative sound to soca music. Check it out nuh, and tell us if they improved on the original, or not.
